Barton Creek Sq. shopping mall evacuated Saturday as police responded to jewellery robbery

Barton Creek Sq. mall prospects browsing the weekend ahead of Xmas have been evacuated Saturday night as Austin Police Division responded to a jewelry retail store theft.

Officers responded close to 8:33 p.m. to experiences of a few folks breaking glass cases and stealing various goods from Helzberg Diamonds, which is found at the center of the building, said Officer Michael Bullock in a news convention later that night time. 

No suspects are in custody, Bullock reported, and no a single was wounded.

“We are doing the job on producing individuals specific leads as we are examining footage and likely over other proof suitable now,” Bullock reported.

While officers were being on the scene, Bullock mentioned, police received added information that some mall personnel and holiday purchasers “possibly read pictures staying fired from within the shopping mall.” Bullock claimed law enforcement have not discovered proof of the presence of a gun that evening. Austin Fireplace Office and Austin-Travis County EMS also responded to the scene as a precautionary measure.
