Fee votes to redevelop St. Augustine outlet mall, insert housing and motion picture theater

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – Component of the St. Augustine Retailers could soon close and be replaced with new residences, retail room and a film theatre after St. Johns County commissioners on Tuesday voted unanimously in favor of redevelopment.

The property’s proprietor desires to redevelop the present house into a mixed-applied area on 31 acres of land.

This would have an affect on the indoor retailers on the northeast aspect of I-95 and condition street 16, not the strip-shopping mall style Quality Retailers on the southbound aspect.

An outlet spokesperson stated it strategies to shut Jan. 31, 2022.

Commissioner Henry Dean advised News4Jax in June the stores weren’t what they used to be, so he understands why the operator desires to re-build. Before this year, there had been 35 tenants at the outlet and 75 total retail spaces.

The software for redevelopment reported, “the outlet mall is growing old and has been struggling to retain tenants for some time.”
